Hi Buddecke & Tony

Joseph Jacobs details Techow's final fight in his diary, which can be seen in Cross & Cockade International Vol 25 #2 1994. In essence together with Vfw's Sowa & Lander he attacked a 2-seater somewhere near Dixmude, whereupon 6 Sopwith 2-seaters (not Camels!) dived on them and Techow was shot down, the wings of his Albatros falling off in the process. SK Taylor who provided wonderfully detailed footnotes for the article makes a good case that their opponents may have been DH4's from 57 Sqn who had a fight with 3 Albatros scouts, although there is a discrepancy in locations. Jacobs with the rest of Js 7 had an indecisive scrap with some SPAD's near Dixmude.

Be interesting if someone can provide better details of the Belgian claim.

Cheers Russ
