German pilot POW captured January 31st, 1918

Hello;

I'm looking for details regarding a German POW, captured the night of January 30/31, 1918 by the French, just east of Paris.

His name is Lt.d.Res. Kurt Luedtke. He was part of a nighttime bombing mission to Paris and shot down(?). I believe his unit was Bombengeschwader OHL, Staffel 11.

Are there any details of the January 30/31 nighttime mission and the subsequent capture of combatants?

Is there a French pilot claiming a victory associated with this raid?
What prison was he sent to?

He earned the Wound Badge in Black on September 5th, 1918 (as a POW?). That would suggest he was wounded in action.

Thank you,

Claudius

Bonjour

May be Lt.d.Res. Kurt Luedtke was one of the crew shot down and POW by escadrille CRP(escadrille 464)?

I had forgotten about my inquiry from 6 1/2 years ago! I lost all track of my original thread. I'm sorry to bring this question up again without referencing this thread and expanding from it.

When I saw an earlier thread asking for the names of German flyer POWs in a Belgian camp, I had wondered if the French kept a list of German POWs captured from aerial combat. I haven't found any Allied records that specifically name Kurt Luedtke as a captured pilot and where he was held.

My many thanks again for bringing this thread to my attention.

Regards,

Claudius

Do ever feel things aren't going to be easy? I could't find anything either, but then I remembered my years and years of office work with files....and how many times files are miss labeled. And I found him!!

I found him in the file beginning with "Lutke, Josef". There isn't a lot on this page and I can translate the French, except the abbreviations.

"selon liste P.33521: I. K. s/L. esc. bomb. capture' 31.1.8 interne' at Montoire"

I believe I understand this sentence;
"According to the list, Prisoner number 33521 I. K. s/L. bombing squadron captured 31.1.8, interned at Montoire"

(I think the date is suppose to be "January 31, 1918")

Was there a WWI prison camp in Montoire-sur-le-Loir?

What does this mean? " I. K. s/L. "

Disappointingly little detail about his imprisonment. For one thing, I know he was wounded.

He earned the Wound Badge in Black (Black would be a single or low level wound. Silver is for either more wounds or a more serious injury and finally Gold would be for multiple wounds or a very serious injury).

It would be interesting to find some records that mention the injury, perhaps the prison hospital. Are there separate records for injured POWs?

Bonsoir

One thing I had not see is that the document attached to his ICR record
(P33521) give interesting infos

Capturé le 31 Janvier 1918 prés de Chelles (Seine et Marne) Internés à Montoire sur Loire le 2 Février 1918

Von Heyking Rudiger S/L escadrille de bombardement (pilot,or observer of the DFW ?)
Luedtke Kurt S/L ""

IN FASWC
"CRP unit (escadrille AR 464 Caporal Billard) DFW CV N° CV 5950/16 with two Ltn WIA/POW,night victory
"the night of 30-31 january a DFW CV was forced to land between Chelles and Vaires
and was destroyed by the occupants
every thing checks out !!

Here is info about Rudiger von Heyking Lieutenant General of the Luftwaffe during World War II.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%BCdiger_von_Heyking

"Between September 1942 and November 1943 he commanded the 6th Luftwaffe Field Division on the Eastern Front. From May 1944 he was commander of the 6th Luftwaffe Parachute Division in France. He and two other general officers were captured in September of that year in Mons, Belgium during the German retreat from France.[1]"
