Can someone provide me with a list of the Home Defence Units of the RFC that participated in the defense of London and the English coast during the Gotha offensive of 1917? I'm particularly interested in the units that flew either Pups, Camels or Brisfits during mid 1917 to very early 1918. I was only able to learn of two squadrons called back from the Western front and those were No. 56 (S.E. 5's) which set up shop near Canterbury and No. 66 Squadron (who flew Pups) of which I do not know their location. Other than that I have the listings for late 1918 and that's all. If you know who and where these units were stationed that would be of great value as well.
In addition, did green pilots right out of flight school get stationed to Home Defense units or did the RFC prefer veteran flyers?
Thanks a bunch!
