Handley-Page Boimbers and Klaxon Use

Hi

In case anyone has not read my post on this subject in 'Books' I will repeat the request here.

According to UKNA documents he HP O/400 equipped 215 Sqn. used a Klaxon fitted to the aircraft for "Signalling their letter if the Aldis light fails", also to "Signal for removal of chocks" and "Indicating to which Flight they belong after landing at night". During 1916 and 1917 at least according to 'Orders' of the period the Klaxon was fitted to night bombers as part of an IFF system and would be sounded over 'British' defended areas if the aircraft was 'challenged' by searchlight and/or anti-aircraft units. My question is does anyone have a description or know of any photos showing the fitment of the Klaxon to HP O/100 or O/400. Judging by material of fitment of Klaxons to other types it would probably been a decision by the squadron where it was actually located. Any information would be welcome, this is for a future article I am putting together for 'Cross and Cockade', which is in the almost final stages.

Hi

I have another try the type of equipment I am looking for fitted to the HPs will be similar to those below, Clockwise; RE8 under fuselage fitment, FK8 under fuselage fitment, BE2c poking out of fuselage, RE8 poking out of fuselage.

Hi

Continuing from previous, Clockwise FE.2b fuselage fitment (18 Sqn. probably for Cavalry Contact Patrols as Cavalry Corps support squadron at time, however, it was brought down while engaged in night bombing so may have been used for the 'IFF' procedures in place at the time during 1916), DH4 fit behind pilot's cockpit used for gunner communication with pilot experiments during 1917, Underwing fitment on RE8 for Contact Patrols as were the four previous images posted. So anything similar on HPs would be of interest.
