Mirror Bombing Training

Looking through an RNAS pilot's log book and I find several entries referring to 'Bomb Dropping over mirror.' This was in early 1916 in the UK, and again in 1917 but now in Egypt.

As the pilot was flying at the time this rules out the ground training Batchelor Mirror system.
Therefore, I am assuming some form of camera obscura was being used.

Anyone any ideas as to what equipment was in use?
