Hi Mr. Harris, would you check the link, please? I came up with an error message from the Aerodrome, and couldn't find the book or Aeronaut Books on a search of the Aerodrome. I did find Aeronautbooks.com, but not the McCudden volume yet.

Thank you for your interest in the McCudden book. The book is available directly from Amazon. I have not yet had time to list it on the Aeronaut website.
All the best,
Jack

Hi Jack;
Kinda wish you had kept in touch with me on projects...
I have this very nice unpublished large original Kepple painting of McCudden's 5th Victory (and have the copyright-with it). Might have made a nice cover, or for elsewhere, in the book?
"McCudden’s Fifth"
James McCudden closes in on a Roland C-II and shoots it down for his fifth victory. February 15, 1917

Hi Joe,
That is indeed a nice painting! I think it would have made a nice cover painting too, although Alex liked the photo I used. On the other hand, he did not know about your painting, nor did it.
I do have another book project coming up (don't I always!) that could use this painting if you would like to see it used. Please let me know. And I am happy to keep you updated on the Aeronaut Book projects, although would prefer to do it off-line because I prefer to under promise and over perform. I have book projects going that look like they will take years and don't like to discuss them until the text is done.
Thanks,
Jack

What a nice surprise. I wasn't aware of this book, and I'm a fan of McCudden.
But an odd choice for title I thought. It infers McCudden enjoyed the war; and perhaps he did at the start. Not surprising, as most young men of the times thought it a great adventure, especially those fortunate enough to be flying above the squalid trenches. But disillusion soon set in.
I'll be very interested to read the book. Have to re-read Flying Fury first though, it's been years since I've read it.

 G'day Pips!
Alex has asked me to respond to your enquiry regarding the title.
He said it came to him while writing the book & was reinforced by a quote from Trygve Gran who said how cheerful McCudden was & that he "was a happy warrior!"

This is great news! A long-awaited book, which I'm sure is the definitive biography of one of the war's greatest aces by the world's greatest authority on 56 Sqdn and the RFC/RAF!!
