First I must ask you to excuse me...
Looking dates for De La Tour, I have found that ,in fact, Deullin has won his first victory over Spad S135 on October 21, 1916 and has received its the first time spad October 5, 1916 (the title of his mission on that day was 'essai' - 'test')
De La Tour used a spad VII S150 on mission for the first time on November 5, 1916(-The title of his mission on that day was 'essayé l'appareil'
-'having tested the device')
Again my apologies!!!!
Cordialement
Bruno

Cool, this provides me with six Escadrille 3 Nieuport aces: Dorme, Guynemer, Chainat, Deullin, de la Tour, and Heurteaux.
Do you also know when when Jean Casale (Escadrille 23) exchanged his Nieuport for the SPAD?

Can I ask why you're gathering Nieuport aces for Escadrille 3? are you working on a project?

Hello,
yes, I'm working on a table of all Nieuport aces. I've gathered 103-111 of those, thus far. The eight uncertain candidates are De Bonald, Lachmann, Gastin, Lévy, Costes, Bouyer, Herisson, and Lombardi.

Hmmm, interesting.
Do you agree with the figure that France had about 187 aviators who officially reached ace status?
I would have thought the Spad figure higher than Nieuports because of its speed, durability and better armament, as well as being easier to fly. Also, wasn't the number of potential enemy aircraft targets higher from 1917/18 than during the Nieuport period?

I would wonder about better armament, at least in the SPAD VII - single Vickers, and thoser were prone to jamming. THat and IIRC, Nieuports were around and in the thick of it longer, with more being produced? Would have to check on that detail.
