Tabloid Doppelganger

That is an excellent photo of the Schutte-Lanz D.I.

This was a German aircraft that seems to take a lot of cues from the early SS1 Sopwith Tabloids. This view really shows the distinctive shape of the Tabloid fuselage and cockpit. It has warping wings like the early Tabloid, but a balanced rudder without fin (similar to the prototype Tabloid, but not the production models). According to the Bruce Sopwith Pup Book, the Schutte-Lanz D.I had the following specifications:

-wingspan: 24' 7"
-length: 17'8"
-weight 1,499 lb

so, slightly smaller and heavier than a Tabloid.

Interestingly it had two fixed synchronized machine guns (which explains the extra weight).

Where'd you find it?

Lightbulb Thank you...

.
... I saw the same photo and would have posted a question concerning this interesting aircraft within a few minutes.

Do you have more (technical) data concerning the Schütte-Lanz D.I?
.

I do not have much more technical data than I'm already shown except that it seems to of had a 80hp rotary...

The JM Bruce Sopwith Pup book from Air Britain has about 2 pages of information on the plane.
