Max von Müller

Some time ago I revisited Rottenburg an der Laaber in Bavaria, Germany.
In this small village the Bavarian ace Max von Müller was born and he was
also buried there after being killed over Moorslede whilst on a patrol on 9
January 1918.

In attachment some pictures of his grave and the memorial on the wall
of the house where he was born in the (nowadays) Max-von-Müllerstrasse.
In a local pub I was told there are still living some relatives of him in the
village and that his Pour-le-Mérite and other decorations are kept at the townhall.

.
Even more impressive is, that someone still cares for the grave. Not very common in our times...

But every time has its own style, no matter if you like it or not. I think the monument was relatively decent when it was erected.

A nice detail is...

.
... that the "Pour le Mérite" seemed not to be the most imporant order for those who erected the monument.

Hi Volker,
For his fellow countrymen the Bavarian Militär-Max-Joseph-Orden that Max von Müller received postumously was of course of greater importance than
the Prussian Pour-le-Mérite.
Anyway, it's good that pilots like Von Müller (and also Allied ones of course) are not forgotten. They all tried to do their best for their own country.

You can't have too many eagles, IMHO.
