Did Richthofen handed down his dreidecker to Wolff?

Hello, folks, this is my first topic / post in this forum that I came to like over the past few months, just lurking around.

But I came upon this quote, from http://www.paperwarbirds.net/content...ge=page.pilot:

The DrI was not necessarily designed with the Baron's particular flying skills in mind. Von Richthofen disliked the plane so much that he initially went back to his Albatros and gave (or shared) his first DrI [F.I 102/17] to another pilot, Lt. Kurt Wolff.

The site http://voss.hegewisch.net/voss.html also has a similar account. I am not sure who published it first. I have been reading about Voss, Jacobs and other Dr.I pilots in this forum, but I never came across anything like it.

Is this somewhat accurate or fable? Other sources mention that MvR went on a leave when Wolff was piloting the F.I 102 and was shot down, but nothing that he "gave away" his tripe.

Either way, if this is true, I consider being interesting. Anyone can confirm this quote or not?

Appreciate any comments.

Regards,
