Captain Allen Geoffrey Fox R.E., R.F.C DOW 9th May 1915

Quite an early military aviator. Fifth army officer to qualify for Aero Cert.

Can anyone help with any information as to what wounds he had and how he got them?
Any information appreciated.

Drawing upon Trevor Henshaw's The Sky their Battlefield - it would seem he had being flying Voisin LA 1877 of 16 Sqn, on a bombing mission aimed at the canal bridge at Don, in support of the assault on Aubers Ridge (ie to impede German reinforcements). Apparently his aircraft was hit by AA over Cambrai (sic) - should read Cambrin which is just East of Bethune - at 1600 and fell near lines. Listed as MIA. Oddly his demise is overlooked in a 16 Sqn history which can be found in C&C US Vol 18 #4. But this does say that his fellow pilot Lt HF Glanville, who was wia on same mission, also flying a Voisin, was carrying two 100lb bombs.

Cheers Russ

Thank you.
That helps considerably.
So far I have followed his career with great interest. He is recorded as having died of wounds as opposed to missing in action.

Presumably he was MIA and then later it was found that he came down and died of wounds shortly thereafter.
A very interesting character who seemed happy to fly in almost any weather.

Great stuff!!
