Walter Koessler was a German infantry officer during WW1. And he had a camera, which he used throughout the war. He prepared a photo album from his pictures, which was passed down through his family. Dean Putney used a Kickstarter last year to prepare a facsimile version of the album. I backed the Kickstarter and received an album last month. There are now a few copies available on Amazon.com.
Walter Koessler 1914-1918: The personal photo journal of a German officer in World War I: Dean Putney, Walter Koessler, Linda Benedict-Jones: 9780615879178: Amazon.com: Books
The album is 11 by 17 inches, and has 140 pages. There are only 2-3 pictures of aircraft, but many of daily life, especially in the trenches. Koessler also served as an observer on photographic missions, and there are a number of his reconnaissance pictures included. Good captions on the photos as well. Most pictures are shown at their original size in the original album, but some are blown up to full page size to show details.
Enjoy!
Frank.
