LVG B.II or C.Ii Photo?
Hello All,
Currently on ebay a photograph of a LVG apparently with serial B.797/15 at
Offiziere Bruch FLUGZEUG Kennung B. 797/15 Artillerie Flieger Abt. 205 SELTEN | eBay
The same aircraft is also shown at Leo Müller V
Leo Müller V
Here it is described as an LVG C.I. However C.797/15 is an LVG C.II
Both photos agree that the machine is from AFA 205. However, it appears unusual that B type would be serving with a frontline unit at this date. But the image from ebay does appear to show B.797 - meaning probably a LVG B.II.
Can anyone advise as to whether this machine a LVG B type or C type?
Regards,
Clint

Hello Clint
this is a B.II. Wing cut out and rear cockpit aft of cabane rule out the B.I, no gun ring no C-type.

Lvg b.ii 797/15
Hello Joachim,
Thanks for the identification. Not I note on Roger's serial list. Looks like this batch extends past B.794/15. I'll have to check my spread sheet when I get in and see if I have any other LVG B.II serials showing that a karger order than DSA's figures probable.
Still seems strange that a B.II would have been serving with an AFA at this date.
Regards,
Clint

Lvg b.ii
Hello Joachim
Having taken the time to look at Roger's site I believe that the figures given by DSA look incomplete. I wouldn't care to speculate where this serial block begins and ends, but it would appear logical that it ends no sooner than B.797/15

Clint

Clint, Joachim,
It looks like it could be a batch of 100 or 125. The previous LVG B.I batch 205-239/15 is for 125.

LVG B.II Batch
Hi Both,
Looks more like 100 as the WDF for the Albatros B.II lists B.805/15, though where the LVG B.II block starts and ends will have to wait further information. Personally I've not seen a photo earlier than B.723/15.
Regards,
Clint

Hello All,
Currently on ebay at :
Flieger Flugzeug Paderborn Fliegerschule LVG | eBay
A photo of a LVG B.II (Schul) B.1350/17. I haven't previously seen any photos or other records of LVG B.II from this batch so thought I'd post.
Regards,
Clint
