What happened?

The last time I visited here was Novemebr of 2011 and it appeared this website was shutting down. I just thought I'd give it another try and it's up and running again. What gives?

I think there was a couple of Hacking problems going on and Scott took care of the problem.

O.K. Sator, thanks for the explanation! Traffic seems much reduced.

I have an Aerodrome RC Fokker D.VI on its way for the winter building season. I always loved that plane.

I have a Dynaflite SE5a kit built at 1/5th scale powered by a Saito 1.00. Then I have a Great Planes Electrafly Fokker DVII. I also am building a Balsa USA 1/4th scale Nieuport 28 that will be powered by a Zenoah G26.

(I tried to upload photos; but, the process failed.)

what happened

First, I want to say Happy new year and hope it brings us all better times. It seems that there is much tighter management of this forum space but I don't think that is really the cause of less participation. For R/C folks I don't think The Aerodrome has ever been a first choice for posting builds. I myself view The Aerodrome as a privilege that allows me to research the subjects of my builds and have dialogue with experts and professionals that otherwise would not be possible. I hope that more R/C builders will discover and take advantage of this opportunity and do what I can to foster that. With the holidays out of the way I will be posting more but until the country gets back on it's feet there will be more people unable to enjoy our great hobby. Cheers.

John, I have recently promoted this site over at RCGroups. It appears many people figured this website had been shut down. I also feel that this site is a great place for research. It was wonderful having Dan San Abbott as a fellow contributor, his knowledge will be sorely missed.

As far as the economy is concerned, in my local area it has been doing better since the beginning of 2010 and continues to improve. However, I don't think wages for the common laborer will ever be as good as they were in the 80s and 90s.

I consider myself lucky to be able to still have a hobby. Your comment, "I don't think wages for the common laborer will ever be as good as they were in the 80s and 90s." Is true and especially in New Jersey.
