The Blue Max Project Update

The Blue Max Project | A "Work in Progress" by WWGeezer

I just posted some of my first character sketches. The last one of the three I like a lot and sets the bar for what I would like to achieve with the graphic novel. not a marvel comic, but something that communicates emotionally and viscerally with the mood of the book.

I also announced the project i want to do first, which will be " Rupp's Sketchbook"....more to follow.

Thanks for the comments, one clarification to the moderator....Jack Hunter was the author of the original book The Blue Max. The "Jack Hunter Story" is his bio not mine. jack passed away a few years back. I have been keeping in touch with his family as this project develops.

Interesting the idea of a graphic novel.

A few year's back on this forum, I had proposed the idea of an electronc graphic novel. A combination of computer illustrations like those done by Mark Miller and narrative and characters. It would be an interactive graphic novel and being digital, no printing costs.

If you had a 3D graphic rendering of a Pfalz or RE8, there is no aspect of the aircraft that cannot be viewed and illustrated, such as cockpit shots, bullet projections etc. You can use the same model with various skins or paint schemes to have multiple planes in a scene.

The story I had in mind for this was an accurate story of MvR. You could show a scene of the Jasta 11 flightline and point on any aircraft and a caption could come up telling the reader whose plane it is. I am sure that other interactive features could be designed into the format.

An accurate portrayal of Hunter's novel would be very cool, especially the sparks that flashed between Stachel and Heidemann's wife (who I thought was more interesting that Katie).

WWHFA Comics | The Blue Max Project

David, if you follow the link and look at some of the earlier comics I did, these were all screenshots from footage inside the Rise of Flight flight sim. Once your record footage inside an event, you can move the camera around, zoom in and create your view and save the screenshot.

In this case I built story lines around events that happened during a mulitplayer flight sim event, saved footage, made screenshots and built a comic around it

Pretty close to what you are describing
