Help requested to identify an aircraft in WW1 print.
Just joined.! First posting.!
I have recently aquired a print celebrating the return of repatriated troops after the end of WW1.
The location is the River Humber, in fact Riverside Quay, Kingston-upon-Hull.
A troop ship waits to come alongside whilst a reception committee waits on the quay and an airship and an airplane fly overhead.
The airship is NS9, North Sea class no 9.
I wondered if anyone here recognises the airplane in the picture I have attatched.
- Rectangular cross section fusalage, two figures in cockpit, radial engine
- upper wing longer than lower, three pairs of struts.
- Fusalage and wings painted with a chequer-board pattern
- Tail has as much below the fusalage as above it; painted with a vertical tri-colour.
regards
Jake
