Clerget R9 Series overheating issues

Hello Everyone

I am trying to find out if the Clerget R9A engine had obturator rings. I know that the R9B and all others had them due to increase of displacement and horsepower, and thus higher operating temperatures which warped the rear of the cylinders. I am writing a novel in which the RNAS acquire some of the earliest models in August 1915 for a special Admiralty project. My protagonists are speaking to Clerget at this moment at his factory in NW Paris. I need to know if obturator rings are in the 110hp model to gage how much sooner to bring Bentley into the picture.

Thank You All
