27TH Aero Squadron Fabric

Hi Guys,

Have not posted in quite a while. Thought maybe you folks could help ID this 27TH Aero panel cut from the Starboard side of a SPAD XIII. Panel was recovered in California about 12 years ago. No other info is known. I have looked at all the 27TH SPADs I could find photos of but most side shots show the Port side, so it has been tough. Any ideas, I would love to hear them.

Thanks

Scott

Any more info on that ?? By who? From a collection? Museum?

I checked some pics I have access to and couldn't find a match

I also note that your example doesn't have the highlighting to the lower edge of the wings and talons that some do. This may help to narrow down the plane it came from ??

27TH Aero

It turned up at a show, on a table. It was brought home by a ground crewman/ mechanic. In addition their was a General Order of commendation of the 27TH and 95TH Aero Sqs., as well as a 27TH Roll of honor. If it was picked up by a ground crewman, it would have most likely been a crash or large repair on the airfield, or a piece cut off when the birds were stripped and scrapped in 1919.
