Spad VII - Eduard von Schleich

Hi everybody,

Can anyone tell me if the number that appears on the Spad's fuselage is 16 ? And what color could it be, red or black, or something else ?

Thanks for your help.

Hello There,

Yes, the number on the fuselage is 16. Whether it was red or black, I do not know. I'll leave that to the Escadrille experts.

Very best regards,

Greg

Hello,

Just to let you know:

All available evidence indicates that this was originally the Spad VII No. 2118 of Sergent Everett Buckley, an American Lafayette Flying Corps member of Spa 65. He was brought down and taken prisoner near Dun-Sur-Meuse on 6 September 1917.

Whether or not this was the actual Spad that Schleich was said to have painted with German insignia and flown over the lines - well, I don't know.

Best regards,

Greg
