Schutzhelm der Deutschen Fliegertruppe...protective helmet of the German flying corp

Thought I would post photos of my most recent Imperial German aviation item here first. It is a scarce Imperial German aviators protective helmet or "crash helmet." These helmets were worn by both pilots and observers in the Fliegertruppen. This example is in very good original condition showing use. There are faint depot stamps on the inside of the rear neck flap.

Seems to be a M1913 helmet from cork, covered with (field gray) linen. Seems to be in really good condition!

Thanks for posting all these terrific photos Dan. We see these so often on the men that wore them but I've never had such a close up walk around, inside and out--and in such fine shape to boot.
