5734/17 and 1171/17 Albatros

Hi all,
New post here I am afraid. I start with a little conundrum, at least for me and hence my post.
I know it's a big ask and that's why I am posting on this forum here.

I am looking for information on the following machines:

1) 5734/17 Albatros D.Va from Jasta 56
Pilot: Vfw Weimar

I believe, so far, that it is a plywood body, white replacement tail rudder, white tips on stabilisers and either a white or yellow vertical fuselage band.
I have only ever seen one photograph of this after it's capture by the British on 1st April 1918 (Capt. Duncan) when, and it is disputed, that Weimar either parachuted out or he was forced to land (I favour the latter due to perfect condition of the aircraft).

2) 1171/17 Albatros D.V from Jasta 6
Pilot: Ltn d R Robert Tüxen

I believe that this machine was also plywood fuselage, white tail, black and white striped rear stabiliser, white vertical band on fuselage. Top wings in Green / Mauve. Bottom wing (under) black and white "invasion stripes" x4 each.

Are there any profiles or better pictures of these machines anywhere? All I have found so far is one very small photo of the first and nothing on the second at all.
Am I in the right ballpark with these?

Thank you in advance,

Martin

Hi Martin,

you'll find a profile of Tüxen's Albatros D.V in Richthofen's Circus-Jagdgeschwader Nr. 1 by Greg VanWyngarden. Here is the text to the profile:

Albatros D.V D.1171/17 (?) of Lt.d.R. Robert Tüxen, Jasta 6, Bisseghem, July 1917 - The serial number quoted here is very provisional, based on the one hazy photograph which shows the fin. This D.V displayed the classic "zebra" stipes of Jasta 6 on it's tail and also beneath the lower wings. Tüxen's personal emblem was the thinly-applied white band arround the fuselage. Metal cowling panels appear rather dark, being perhaps a dull greyish-green in colour. The wings were camouflaged in green and lilac, while the rudder was covered in clear-doped fabric.

Regards

Rainer

PS: I have no info about the Jasta 56-Albatros D.Va.

Rainer,
Thanks ever so much, that's very helpful indeed. I am obliged for the help so far.

I have heard that Mr. VanWyngarden's resources were second to none.

Loki, just in case you didn't know this yet:
many pics of Greg van Wyngarden's collection are exposed at the website of "WingnutWings". And every now and then, more pictures are added there.
Always worth a visit!
