In the British Services 45 Sqn, not 45th Sqn (an Americanism).

GL normally stands for General List, that is, he was not badged to a regiment or corps.

However, London Gazette number 29588 states:

The KING has approved the admission of the undermentioned Officers to the Indian Army: —
To be Second Lieutenants.
FROM THE UNATTACHED LIST.
Robert Hartley Deakin, attached 10th Jats. Dated 2nd March, 1916.

London Gazette number 30128 carries the following announcement:

ROYAL FLYING CORPS.
Mil. Wing.—The undermentioned appts. are made: —
Flying Officers.—
2nd Lt. R. H. Deakin, Ind. Army. 26th Apr. 1917.

Also, London Gazette number 30860 shows:

India Office,
23rd August, 1918.
NOTE.-The following officers will have seniority in the rank of Lieut, from the dates specified against their names: —
Lieut. R. H. Deakin. 28th. March 1916.

So, Robert Hartley Deakin went from the Unattached List into the Indian Army then transferred into the RFC.
