I wonder if somebody scanned the Stan Teachman drawings available from WW1 Aero, MML-AeroplanesIframe . I have had a few dealings with Andy Budek and he seemed like a straight-up guy.

Hi guys,

The Teachman drawings are certainly the only detailed drawings of the Albatros D.II I am aware of. Does anyone know much about him? Is he still around? Is he / was he from the US? I would really love to have a chat with him if he is still around, or with someone who knows how he compiled the information he used for his drawings.

Regards,

David.

Stan was a member of my local EAA chapter, and active in the local model club. He passed away a few years back. Tireless researcher, and very nice gentleman.

Hi,

Thank you very much for letting me know. It's amazing how little is often known about such people who have carried out such important work, and it's great to hear from someone who knew Stan. I have a feeling that he worked quite closely with Bob Waugh, although I have noticed some apparent differences in structural details between Bob's information - I inherited a museum scale Albatros D.II from him - and Stan's magnificent drawings. I imagine that they both must have had a lot of trouble confirming the structural details of an aeroplane which does not exist any more, and for which a very limited number of drawings are available. Especially given the difficult circumstances, the work they both produced is an absolute credit to both of them.

Regards,

David.
