Here is a little "in-between" project to keep the brushes active while I work on developing other ideas. This is the Morane-Saulnier Type N "Bullet" flown by Capt. R Smith-Barry of 60 SQ RFC. The painting measures 20" x 12.25". I just finished the Grisaille layer. I'll let this leyer dry for a while and then come back and work on it some more. I think I'll call it Bullet.

One of my favourite WW1 planes, and you have portrayed it well, as usual. Somewhere in my collection I have a wonderful photo of a pilot leaning against the propeller of an MS-N with the Hotchkiss MG visible behind him. In my opinion it is one of the most evocative photos of WW1 aviation.
I went ahead and put down the first layer of color this weekend. Subsequent layers (probably 2 more) will help define details in some areas, loosen them up in others and will bring out the colors better.
