New Osprey releases

Just got review copies of Part II of Jon Guttman's WW I Naval Aces plus Jim Miller's Duel with DH-2 and Alb. D.I/II.

There goes my research reading over the weekend!

Wassermann

After thumbing through "Naval Aces of World War 1, Part 2 " a little translation error caught my eye which has been done several times before and which has been repeated in this book (page 57).
Ltn. Schönfelder's nickname "Wassermann" does not mean "water bearer" but it literally translates as "water man" or "Aquarius" and is a tongue-in-cheek reference to his naval affiliation.

Please also see Theo Osterkamps book "Du oder ich" ("You or me"), quote:
Der Name "Wassermänner", den wir als "Mariniers" bei der Armee trugen, ändert sich in "Gelbschnäbel".
The name "water men" which we "mariners" bore with the army changes into "yellow beaks".

This should not distract anybody from obtaining Jon Guttman's recommended book!

I typed the wrong rank for Kurt Schönfelder: he was an Oberflugmeister, not a Leutnant.

(I don't have permission to edit my previous post for whatever reason)
