Baron Rouge/French Comic

Hello Forumities,

I would like to show you a few pages of a comic, which I bought in the Comic Museum in Brussels last weekend. It’s called: Baron Rouge/1. Le Bal des Mitrailleuses (The dance of machineguns) and is written in French. It has many good paintings according combat scenes, a view of them over a French or Belgium town. Unfortunately our "Baron Rouge" is shown here as a cold blooded murderer. But the authors wrote that this is a fictional story based on Manfred von Richthofen and other famous historic personalities of WW1.

I like it because of the colourful paintings of the combat scenes......

Regards

Rainer

Thank you for sharing the pictures! It is unfortunate that Richthofen has been singled out as a cold blooded killer, as though no one else was, if you wish to look at air combat that way! Here is a link to a story with a different perspective on him. Scroll down to the second story on the page.

Hi FliegerJG1,

thank you for the link with this story. Have I read it before? I don't think so.

Well, I think these authors and painters thought that it is better for the fictional story that the Red Baron is shown as a cold blooded murderer. It's fiction and comics are a sort of art.

Regards

Rainer
