Ernest John Elton

Ernest John Elton is a Bristol Fighter ace with 17 decisive combats. I have a reference to his having written something called "NCO Pilot", in 1935. Does anyone know if this is a book, pamphlet, or article? Or something else? If it is an article, where was it published?

Enjoy!

Frank.

I was reading at the weekend in "Hawker VC" that as an air mechanic in June 1915 Elton fitted Hawker's original oblique Lewis gun and sight on to the side of his first Bristol Scout 1609.
I've not see that book but it sounds very worth looking out for.

Frank,

As soon as I wrote the above and posted it I re-read your post - and a voice in my head said "Popular Flying.." Sure enough..

An article called "N C O Pilot" by E J Elton appeared in August 1935 in Popular Flying!

Do you have it?

Otherwise I can scan it and send you a copy if you get in touch with a p.m.

All the best,

Trevor

Frank,

Seconding Trevor, "Popular Flying" for August, 1935 (vol. 4, no. 5)
contains "N.C.O. Pilot - Sergt.-Pilot E.J. Elton" pp. 274-75 and
"Early Bird - A Short Story," by J.E. Gurdon (p. 276)--a notable Brisfit pilot
in his own right.
