Looking for further information on my relative from 98th squadron WW1

I had an Uncle, called JOHN EDWARD PROSSER, who was a Ft/Lt IN 98TH SQUADRON WW1.Anyone who can give me any more info on his RAF background OR any general information, PLEASE contact me when convenient.
Very many thanks,
Graham Prosser.

If you are talking about 98 Sqn RFC/RAF this might be his RAF record held by the TNA at Kew you can download it for £3.50.

Graham,

The name Prosser was half familiar to me (having once worked with a Prosser in Melbourne, Australia). I recalled it being in TSTB. It looks like this may be your relative, unfortunately killed in air fighting during a bombing raid on 30th October 1918.

As mentioned, this comes from The Sky Their Battlefield.

I recall there's quite a good Sqn history at the NA Kew for 98 Sqn if you could get there. If you gave me a bit of time I might be able to copy the copy I have and I can send it to you. Let me know.

Regards,

Trevor

The Jasta War Chronology contains similar information to that cited by Trevor from TSTB: a DH9 (#D7325) from 98 Sqn, RAF (Lt DW Holmes and Lt JE Prosser, both KIA) downed in the vicinity of Crespin, 1235 hrs on 30 October 1918; credited to Leutnant H Lange, Jasta 26 (his 8th victory).

Hi Trevor,
re 98 Sqn and the history that you have, I have just received some info on the comanding officer of 98 Sqn Harold MacDonnell O'Malley from his grandson. I am looking at the possibility of 'doing' an article on him perhaps for C&C so the history that you have would be a great help.
