Replica Flying Clothes la Duexieme Partie (Part 2)

Since SNJ5's thread has been closed, I opened another to add some info and get comments. (if title translation to French is wrong, blame Google translator)

Although my actual need for "flying clothes" is still a fair bit ahead, I have been doing some shopping for the following:

-Long leather coat
-Leather helmet
-goggles (for wearing with glasses)
-French Flying officer's uniform
-period flying boots
-general flying clothes

I will start with the tail end and work back up the list on what I have bought, found, or am working on.

General flying clothes: I purchased a desert tan nomex flying suit and a set of desert tan nomex flying gloves. I found a source for new items at quite a discount over the standard retail price. I figure, for general flying, the nomex coverall (with 1,000 pockets) would be a good option for comfort, utility and a little added safety. The gloves go along with the same theory. I figure the tan would look less conspicuous especially if under a coat.

Period Flying boots: I have seen short with leg wraps and tall lace up. Although I have not found any yet, I will likely go with the low rise boot for practical reasons.

French Flying Officer's Uniform: This is being a hard nut to crack. I settled in on wanting the horizon blue tunic and matching pants that were common at that time. But a source has been hard to find. However, I am correspondding with a company that makes an earlier period French uniform that is very close. They are interested in adding the pilot's uniform to their line. Prices look reasonable. I'll post more info as I get it.

Goggles: I have a set that look OK, but they aren't good for glasses. Brad posted a modification to insert lenses in such goggles, I may take an old set of lenses and give it a try.

Leather helmet: I bought one that I like. A photo is posted in my Nieuport build thread. I plan to use the "in the ear" type radio head set to wear under this

Long Leather Coat: Another tough nut. Lots of German items available, and I have found one "RFC" style. The RFC coat looks good and I may go with that. The price is pretty good also.

I know that several of you builders already have your flying and show clothes. Post your comments, photos, etc.. Those who are looking, post also. Especially if you have found an actual source.
