Hello, I need help identifying a rudder DFW CV, and I think I should have put my photos in this category:

Thanks,
Sam.

Hi Sam,

It's an absolutely brilliant rudder! Is the stencil under the green paint?

Regards,

David.

Hi Sam

there was a military serial number 493/18 which is too late for your date.

But it could be the manufacturer's Werknummer! In the Datafile we have a photo of 3317/16, works number 427. As the last machine from that batch was 3359/16 it's w/n should be 469.

The next batch was 3400/16 to 3439/16. If DFW continued with w/n 470 your rudder should be from DFW C.V 3423/16!

Hello and thank you for your help.
I was checking the datafile to understand your logic.
Indeed, the aircraft 3317/16 has the w / n 427 but I have a worry because on page 6 of the datafile, they show the plane 4982/16 and they say that the w / n is 622.
It is part of the series starting with 4800/16 and ending in 5039/16, which would mean that for the aircraft 4800/16 the w / n is 440??
I do not understand anything, if you can enlighten me.
Thank you in advance,
Samuel.

It is an advantage if one can turn a page.....

The w/ns do not fit! Starting from 427 the second machine should be 492. If 622 is right your rudder should be from a serial 70 numbers lower, 3308/16 from the first batch. That would mean it was the eighth machine and had a blunt nose.

I am not sure my math is right and I am now very reluctant to make any guess because no w/ns are visible on the pictures.

4982/16 was interned in the Netherlands so maybe some Dutch guys may confirm it's w/n, it was not given in an C&C GB (16/1) article about a/c interned in NL.

It would have been so nice....

Thank you Joachim for your interest in this piece of aircraft.
Do you have any Dutch friends who could help me confirm the number W / N.
This is important because it is the only hope I can find the history of the rudder.
Samuel.
