Quote:
The Rules

1. All aircraft are of the 1914-18 period (Must have left the ground during this period).
2. The score board, link and rules must be copied to the beginning of each thread, so that we know where we are. The score board and the correct answer to the challenge must also be placed at end of each thread.
3. All "ACES" with a score of 5.0 or higher must obey the 3.0 hour handicap. All others with a score of ZERO to 4.99 may start immediately, if not sooner! Offenders will be dealt with severely!
4. To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in it's identification.
5. And whoever wins this challenge will have to provide a new one! If this can not be done for any reason, please PM Breguet and he will take over as host!
6. If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next challenge. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge.
7. The final arbitrator of all things to do with the "rules" is Breguet.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Hello ...

I;m going to say Nieuport ...Typical Tailplain & characteristic elevators with plenty of movement .
The Rudder even at this very acute angle is typical Nieuport .
The Interplane V strut , with typical slanting bindings , seen here on the front portion of it .
Looking at fuselage , there apear 2 footsteps , but this is unlikely ..however one looks Nieuport .
From what is visable of the wings , the aileron missing & pos laying on the ground
1st , its earlier than a 17/23 .
The tailskid doesnt look like a 16 or 11 , or 12 I think ...

Hell ...I will just guess a Nieuport 14 ....and prob in Russian Service !

Hello Marek,

John is most likely right.
I like his answer, because I was hoping it was a Nieuport 12.
It has the longer fuselage than the single seater, the signature rudder, elevators, part of the "V" strut with it's typical Nieuport style metal bands (?), and it just screams Nieuport!

Best Wishes, FOKKERJ

P.S. John says it better: "The Interplane V strut , with typical slanting bindings , seen here on the front portion of it ."

Hello,

Neither Nieuport 14 nor Nieuport 12.

Cheers

i dont see nieuport at all as a matter of fact i dont see french. i see austrian. like a hansa brandeburg D.I has that sort of tail skid fairing and so does an aviatik berg. but not exactly the right shape. i have to do some research but i leaning toward berg.

Certainly a Nieuport type of (for-) interplane strut .....
But wait ....Could this be a Swedish Nielson Jeager ? ...or something like that ?

Sorry if my previous post was not clear. This is Nieuport but neither 14 nor 12. As far as I know, this type had never been used by Russians. The plane is not so exotic as Swedish Nielson.

Regards

Marek

Thanks Marek .....Then if not a 11 , 16 etc.from the type of non-fairing-tailskid ,...but not a 12 or 14 , ...

Then can it be only a Nieuport 20 .......
(Or perhaps a trainer version , perhaps a 80,81, or 82!..Not enough clues for me at least , to tell ).

Sorry, but from the really narrow wing in the foreground (plus all the other things already mentioned Nieuport wise) I think it is an 11, despite the fairing of the skid issue.
