I am REALLY bored
I am really bored and about to buy and build another model.
I was wanting to build another Wing Nut Wings 1/32 scale plane but they don't have anything available right now I really want to build.
I was also considering the HMS Monmouth 1/350 scale amoured cruiser by Combrig or the 1/350 scale French battleship Hoche by Combrig.
Once again, I'd rather save my pennies for any WnW 1/32 scale planes listed in the future release but I am really bored. Not a damn thing on TV.
Any suggestions or alternatives?
Quintin

Hi Quintin,
Ya, I've got a suggestion.... Go outside, in your front yard and look up!
You never know what you might see.
I was outside today washing my logs off on our home and I heard an Aeroplane flying overhead. I looked up and to my great surprise, there was a Boeing Bi-Plane heading S.E. just a couple of hundred feet overhead.
I think that it was a Boeing!
It had Yellow undersides on the wings and Blue Circles with a White Star and a Red meatball in their center. It also had an Orange stripe in between the roundy's and the fuselage (each wing), they were probably two to three ribs wide.
I don't know much about the Golden era flying machines, but it looked like a SPAD and then a Nieuport the further it traveled away.
I wish that I knew what it was, so if any of you were flying over my house today.... Speak up!
Cheers, Jay
P.S. It sure sounded sweet!

G'day Breguet,
Yes, that looks like it very much.
Good eye!
You already said "G'day"!
Did any other US Military Aircraft have the same colors and markings?
Cheers, Jay
P.S. Is that a Cadet?

Sometimes it was called a Kaydet. These days most just call it a Stearman.

Thanks mate, it was awesome!
I guess I could find out more about it and the Pilot if I inquire at the Sisters' Airport. I'm use to seeing and hearing the Emergency Aircraft, because I'm under their major local flight path.
During the "NO FLY ZONE" of 2001, after 9-11, I had a couple of F-16's or better fly over and show off a little. I found out later that it was Mr. & Mrs. Jim Anderson's Son leading a "safety check" over the Home Lands! The Andersons live across the road to the North of us.
See, it's not that boring after all, Quintin.

There are still a fairly large number of WW II era biplanes around, with most of them painted in military colors. And a cool thing is there are several places where you can buy a ride in one. For example, outside of Washington, D.C. there is the Flying Circus Aerodrome where you can get regular ride over the Virginia countryside in a Stearman for $70 or what I highly recommend is an aerobatic ride for $130 where you get a spin, aileron roll, barrel roll, loop, snap roll, Cuban 8 and split "S". There are other places around the country that offer rides in these great biplanes also.
There are about 1000 Stearman PT-17s still flying these days
And about 250 de Havilland D.H. 83 Tiger Moths which are British Commonwealth trainers.
And about 20 Naval Aircraft Factory N3Ns
And some other types such as this Waco

I'm one of those folks who always look up when something in the aviation line passes over, and my best sighting in recent decades occurred about twenty years ago in Corrales, N.M. While walking down a dusty road I heard the mutter of a light plane engine and looked up, to find--of all things--a DeHavilland Tiger Moth flying north up the Rio Grande. It's my only Tiger Moth sighting to date. Ransom

Stearman PT 17 Kaydet
The Stearman PT 17 Kaydet that Breguet and Jim have posted images of appear to be a good match except
for my failure to describe the fuselage color which appeared to be Olive Drab!
So you two go back to the drawring board or fotoshop and get it right!
Seriously, Thank you guys for all of your hard work here on my behalf and sharing all of the great images and information.
Cheers, Jay

Hi Ransom,
All I've got to say is: "Keep Looking Up!", you just never know.
Cheers, Jay
P.S. Maybe the Pilot was heading back to Reno.
Or just sight seeing.
