The future of tiny..

PE really tiny to me.
Umlaufmotor is using a CNC milling machine to turn out cool tiny 3d parts.

This is off the charts though:

10 um = .01 mm (or roughly 1/64 of a scale inch in 1/48)

I heard that Wojtek Fajga was going to be making an upgrade set for this tower.

Cheers

well if that's a 10 micron scale.. then I'd estimate entire piece is about 100-150 microns... or 1/10th to 1/15th of a mm.

And a human hair is about 50 microns thick

The 10 μm bar is 59 pixels long, with the last pixel gray, so 10 μm is between 58 and 59 pixels. I used 10 μm = 58.5 pxl, which converts to 1 mm = 5850 pxl.

The height of the tower is about 655 pxl (using a midpoint between the front and back feet). Converting this to mm: 655 ÷ 5850 = 0.112 mm or about 1/9 mm.

The angle of the photo may have shortened the apparent height (very slightly), and my scale might have been off by 1 percent, but the numbers above should give you a good idea.

Steve McCarty

P.S.
lamarzocco,

Your 100-150 μm is reasonable, but this is 1/10-3/20 mm, not 1/10-1/15 mm.

Steve
