New book on Allied Aerial Reconnaisance

I'm pretty excited about this one: Amazon.com: Shooting the Front: Allied Aerial Reconnaisance in the First World War (9780752460529): Terrence Finnegan: Books. Publication should be in September 2011.

Regards,
d

It's a reprint, which is good given that the original is hard (and pricey) to come by.

Original came out in 2006. Outstanding book, but very heavy on the technical side.

I received my copy last week, purchased in the UK.

Looks to be a great book, but for the time: too much books for too much lack of time. I'm alrealdy three at a time.

Terry's book, which came out a few years back, is an excellent reference. Strongly recommended.

He spoke at the League of WWI Aviation Historians seminar in Rosslyn, VA, I believe in 2007.

Terry edited his book and I'm glad I could help him with some additional information about the Belgian Air Service.
It certainly looks to be a definitive standard work.
Great job by Terry, congratz

Fantastic! I saw this one through interlibrary loan a few years ago and was dismayed at the cost for an out of print copy then available, so I am happy to hear this.

My wife picked one up for me last Christmas. As others have mentioned it is a bit heavy on the technical side, but the subject matter is one that had never received such a through review so its well worth while, particularly at that price (it originally listed at $85 or so). What I liked was how the author related the progression in reconnaissance capabilities from year to year during the war.

My copy of the new edition arrived last week. The old book is a very good reference and I bought hardbound copy. The new edition looks pretty good, a well done book. I had no time yet to check how much the contents changed ...
Regards,
Yavor
