Eduard Albatros DV 1/48th scale
Hi All,
I recently started this Eduard DV., the last in my stash, for Hyperscale's WW1 Group Build, but it ended sorta abruptly (the WW1 GB not my stash!). I'm not fond of taking progress pics as it makes me work methodically and I tend to go back altering stuff after I've photographed it. So I hope you don't mind if I post the stuff here, although I realise that I'm preaching to the converted and you all know how good MicroSculpt's lozenge is and the benefits of a Vector Mercedes over the kit version etc.
That's it so far. I'm hoping the Pheon decals for the 1/48th DV. come out soon. Incidently, in case you were wondering, the missing lozenge on the port wing-tip is for holding purposes, and the missing inspection hatches, louvres etc. will be P.E. stuck on later. Thanks for looking.
Cheers,
Tony.

Tony! So good to see you back, mate! This is a real gem you've got going. I've not yet seen a Vector Mercedes engine stuffed into an Eduard Albatros. Leaving the top cowling off is brilliant. I look forward to your next post.

Bud

Thanks Bud,
It's all the beautiful Wingnut Wings builds that I've been seeing lately that made me go for it. In fact cutting off the cowling was my first move.
Of course it's never going to be up to WnW standards but at least it'll be 1/48th and sit alongside my other models ok.
Cheers,
Tony.

Thanks for the encouragement Doug,
Heaven forbid that I'm selling 72nd or 48th scale short, or the Eduard/Revell Albatros DV which is a bloody good kit. It's just seems that the guys at WnW have raised the bar so high that unless a model in the smaller scales is truly exceptional (and I'm under no illusions that mine will be ) it's not going to get a look in up against these magnificent 32nd scale beasts.
If this is true for us punters, it must be doubley true for all the kit manufacturers out there. Roden's DH2 and Sopwith Triplane will soon be obsolete a year or so after release. Don't think I'm moaning, I'm not, but the plastic kit industry is changing fast especially regarding WW1 aeroplanes.
Cheers,
Tony.

Dang, that looks nice! That Vector engine is a real gem, isn't it?
Are you planning to address the Eduard L/G strut length issue?
Cheers,
(another) Tony

Robin, thanks very much, but ........early days yet, plenty of time for it to go horribly wrong.
and
Thank-you Tony, especially as it was your fine Albatros build, (MvR's in 1/32nd) that convinced me that exposed engine and pale blond plywood was the way to go.
As for the undercarriage (it'll be years before I use the term "landing gear" ), I've pre-ordered Pheon's resin set along with their decal sheet.
Cheers,
Tony.
