Friedrichshafen FF-33 E in 3D

Hello forum members,
With two current Friedrichshafen FF-33 threads in this forum I thought it
might be interesting to show my present attempt at making this aircraft.
I am using the WindSock Datafile plans as a basis for the model and I have
just started work on the cockpit. So I was very interested to read the
discussion on the FF-33's cockpit configuration. I hope that a 3D model
can also find some interest amongst the skillful modeller's on this forum.

Cheers scupper

P.S. I am not having any luck uploading the pictures but they can be seen here:

Thanks Doug,
I use 3D Max to make my models. It seems that every cockpit was different, we may never know exactly.
We just have to do the best with what we have and assume the rest.

Thanks for the welcome Robin,

Hi Scupper;

you know - honestly I was thinking to myself: "I dunno how much use we would have for 3D models" - then I took a look at the renderings you posted..... ahhh - yes, very useful to be able zoom in, turn and manipulate an object, see exactly where that annoying little wire is going. especially the engine. right now I am looking at a little lump of mushy plastic that is supposed to be an engine & have no references to dress it up - and along you come. thanks.

So I flip flop on that, we would all be interested in accurate 3D models for reference - especially the scratch builders - all we generally have to go on are some grainy photos, vague instructions & the odd drawing or two.

BTW> you can't post photos until you reach 10 posts. - If you like you can email the pics & I'll post for you till you hit '10'

Hi Sean, I must return the complement, after seeing your FF's cockpit modelling and that of hubelu's model I thought that perhaps I could do this work on my model. So it works both ways! I will be taking a good look at your work and it will benefit the 3D FF-33 model. Hopefully we can help each other. I think the best thing about using a 3D program is the undo button. I am full of respect for you fine modellers as you work without this luxury. I wish you luck with your little lump of mushy plastic.

Hi Scupper;

thanks - I only have the PART PE set to go on for interior, no photos, nothing, so I can;t really vouch for accuracy here.

And I do have a delete function - more commonly referred to as a #11 blade

-sean

PS> I left the bottom framing off the interior - I'll take some dimensions from it and post then you can scale & compare to see how they work out to what you are doing

So when I go to put the engine together for this, what is the correct arrangement for the push-rods? each cylinder has a pair, would it be to alternate both push-rods fully up and fully down on each cylinder or alternate each rod on each cylinder? i.e.

[uu][dd][uu][dd][uu][dd] or [ud][ud][ud][ud][ud][ud]
