French Bomber Units
I'm looking for information on French Bomber Units, specifically what aircraft did they fly, what were the Groups/Units, missions, and did any French Bomber Groups/Units bomb Gernmany?
Thanks in advance,
James Sontag

Bonsoir James
It is a very vast subject which would require to write a book
you're lucky because this book ...exists, written by Rene Martel
in 1939 and very well translated into English
Look here

Froggy is right on - that's the book you want. Steve Suddaby stops by here on occasion, but is currently busy as President of the US branch of the Western Front Association.

This book, French Strategic and Tactical Bombardment Forces of World War I, is this the ONLY book one should have on French Bombing in World War I?

Hi Jsontag,
Just how many other books on French bombing in WWI are available in English? I can't think of very many, if any...
The mammoth Flying Machines Press book, French Aircraft of World War I, by Davilla and Soltan, contains lots of details about what units were equipped with various bomber aircraft and where they were used, etc. However, the Martel book is one of the few devoted solely to French bombing and describing the bombing campaigns in detail.

GregVan,
I never thought about it, but in English you are right. I will have to get French Aircraft of World War I, by Davilla as you suggested as that sounds like it will be the perfect companion to French Strategic and Tactical Bombardment Forces of World War I.
On a side not, it really sucks that Osprey won't be doing anymore of their Aviation Elite Units books, as it would have been cool if you would do or maybe someone else, or perhaps not if that isn't what you're interested in, a book on a bombing Group/Unit, German or French.
