Need assistance from member that live in Germany.

I am working on a book project about an American named Tommy Thomson who while a volunteer with RAF 74 Squadron was shot down and taken prisoner in June of 1918. He was held at various POW camps across Germany. I am hoping to contact some one that would be willing to take modern digital photos of various locations for my project. I don’t have the funds to pay you for your time but I will happily reimburse you for the cost of a CD and postage. I will give full credit for any and all photos including an acknowledgement in the preface.

The locations desired are the following:

1. Landshut in Bayern
2. The island of Zwisher Brucken in the Iser River at Landshut
3. Fort Prinz Karl
4. Fort X at Ingolstatt

The last location Tommy was held at was an old camp at what then was East Prussia called Camstigall-bei-Pillau, which lay about 40 miles east of Riga. I believe it was near what is now Kaliningrad (Konigsberg) on the Baltic Sea.

Any help or assistance would be much appreciated!

Sincerely,
Tom

I used babelfish for the following German translation and I apologize it it incorrect!

1. Landshut in Bayern
2. Die Insel von Zwisher Brucken im Iser Fluss bei Landshut
3. Fort Prinz Karl

Herzlichst,
Tom

Landshut is correct.

There is an island within the river Isar. Please note the spelling. This part of the town on this island is called "Zwischen den Brücken" (Between the Bridges)

Fort Prinz Karl is at Großmehring, around 10 km east of Ingolstadt. Please note the spelling, too.

Do you mean Fort "Ten" roman spelling? In 14-18 around 11 Forts in and around Ingolstadt were used for officer POWs (plus hut camp for enlisted men).

Fort X /Ten was near Zuchering, some km out of Ingolstadt

Thanks for all of that information Hans! Are you interested in taking the photos?

Cheers,
Tom
