Idenfication Jasta and a German pilot

I want to know who is in this picture. The name of the German pilot if it's possible, his unit and the approximate time of the photo.

Please can you help me?
Thanks and best regards.

Welcome to Forum. Very intersesting photos which I'm sure will generate a lot of interest here in Forum. Whilst I'm not one of those who specialise soley on the German Air Service; the Alb DV and its markings point to second half of 1917 to March 1918. The 'K' strongly hints to first letter of his second name and the flare holder suggest staffelfuhrer or kette leader.

Discounting big names for whom there are familiar photos, I'll throw up three possibles on that score:

Ltn F von Kressenbroch Js 39,
Ltn H Kuppers Js 6 / Js 48, &
Obln H Kummertz Js 1.

I may be wrong of course and I'm sure there are those here in Forum who will correct me.

Cheers Russ

Sure ;o)

He is an NCO ("Unteroffizier") ... and not an officer. Though with his Iron Cross 1st class he must have been an experianced pilot. I think, I have already seen the 'k' - wonder where...

He is wearing a Flieger combination flight suit. Early 1918. Can you read the serial number that maybe the real identifyer. It will tell us what Jasta / unit it was.

Thanks for clarification 'Unteroffizier' - in the army I was in 'bird shit' on the shoulder denoted officers.

Cheers Russ
