Prop identification help please

Hi,

I'd very much like further information on the below items.

Prop hub 1:

Picture 1

Marking:

Aldam Heaton & Co Ltd
No 186
T5291
100 HP
RAF BE2C

4 bladed

This prop has seven laminations.

Prop hub 2:

Pictures 2 & 3

2 bladed

Marking:

DRG.L P 1020A
80 HP LE RHONE.RH
SOPWITH SCOUT
SHORT NOSE
D 2600 GUN TIMING
P 2200 L13763

Prop blade:

Pictures 4 & 5

I see no obvious markings, just the small decal.

Can anyone provide further information on these items? Date and place of manufacture, manufacturer's name, aircraft and engine types these props were fitted to, dimensions etc. What does "Gun Timing" signify?

I'm going to take a punt here ( and edit and remove the post if I am wrong ) that gun timing stamped on the hub means this propeller (airscrew, AIRSCREW !) might have been used to check machine gun sync, and should not be used for flight (in case it has been weakened by umm, incorrect synch !). Hopefully Bob G will jump in and advise !

Propeller Drawing No T 5291

T5291 was a four-blade left-hand tractor propeller used on B.E.2c and d, R.A.F 1a engine (on D.H.6 as well). Such a propellers were produced by many contractors (e.g. Aldam Heaton, Integral, Lang).

LP1020A was a two-blade right-hand tractor propeller used on Bristol Scout and Sopwith Pup, 80 hp Le Rhône or Clerget engine (known makers Morris & Co and Sage & Co). "Short nose" should be propeller shaft variant (there are at least three Le Rhône 9C versions - "short", "medium" and "long"). The pitch of 2430 mm is listed in R. C. Gardner's database of British Propellers.

Regards,
Yavor

P.S. Darracq produced propellers like T7928 for D.H.2 and R.A.F. F.E.8 (Le Rhône 9J, Gnome Mono), and T1708 for D.H.5 (Le Rhône 9J, Clerget).
