160 Gnome Type N Specs

I have read that the fuel burn is 29GPH on the 160 Gnome. This seems high as the 130 Clerget is listed as 13GPH. Any thoughts? What about the Oil consumption?

Thanks,

Koz

The aircraft enclycopedia reports fuel as being 1.09 pounds per HP per hour and oil as .12 pounds per HP per hour. It also rates the Type N as 165 HP.

Another possible source might be: Aviation engines; design--construction--operation and repair;

British Air Board Data for 150 hp Gnome Mono.

Weight of engine in running order less fuel, oil and tanks 284 lbs
Weight of engine with fuel, oil and tanks for 6 hours 1026.8 lbs.
Estimated fuel consumption, ground level carburettor adjustment, no altitude control (sic!):
  • 96 pints per hour at 6 000 feet;
  • 90.25 pints per hour at 10 000 feet;
  • 83.5 pints per hour at 15 000 feet;
  • 77.8 pints per hour at 20 000 feet.
Another section gives assumed fuel consumption as 0.7 pints per B.H.P. per hour and oil consumprion as 0.1 pints per B.H.P. per hour (the same for 130 hp and 200 hp Clerget, b.t.w.).
Also, Morane-Saulnier Type AI was equipped with a 12 cu.dm oil tank and two fuel tanks - 58 and 50 cu.dm.
Regards,
Yavor

Thank you Rob and Yavor,

It seems there are a few different numbers out there for the consumption.
