Info on German WWI Aviator Needed

Can anyone tell me if there is a source for researching German World War I aviators? I am specifically looking for information regarding Leutnant Bernhard Friedrich Schmidt Still, who was born in Hamburg on 26 October 1893, served as an observer in World War I and earned the Iron Cross 2nd Class and Iron Cross 1st Class as well as the Hamburg Hansa War Cross. I do know that he survived the war. I am interested in learning anything about Leutnant Still, especially his unit(s). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Barry

Barry,

Not much help I'm afraid, but he was not in a Jasta, not in a Schusta/Schlasta and I don't have him on my Kagohl/Bogohl lists, so he probably served in a Flieger Abteilung or a naval unit perhaps ?

Best from Johan

Hi,

I did not find im in the Casulties ... so he survived the war propably. As he was born in Hamburg you can write to the Staatsarchiv and ask about his date and place of death - for in Germany the place of birth receives an information, when the citizen dies.

Try snailmail:

Staatsarchiv Hamburg
Kattunbleiche 19
D-22041 Hamburg

Or see in online:

< Staatsarchiv - Stadt Hamburg >

Good luck.

Thorsten
