Exhibits at Science Museum, London
A recent visit with my children "up to the smoke" and the Science Museum proved a real surprise! I remembered a stripped down Fokker E111 and a Navy Sopwith Camel hanging from the ceiling in the 70's but was blown away by the riches on display in the aviation hall. I'll be presenting a thorough gallery of pictures and reference on my website theaviattic.com early next year but here's a taster.....
Best wishes to all, Richard Andrews

Hi Richard.
Just as a little reminder; the Naval Camel you mention above, was, and is still, hanging from the ceiling in the Imperial War Museum, not the ScM.
Excellent photos, I'm looking forward to seeing the others, 'specially the Eindekker.
All the best,
Bucky

Perhaps it is interesting to look at the thread on a Science Museum aviation exhibition in 1912. The thread can be found in the No man's Land - Pioneer aviation here.

Thanks for the reminder, Bucky! My memory always confuses the two places!
So i assume a trip to London should include:
1. Science Museum
2. Imperial War Museum and
3. Hendon (RAF) Museum
to cover the most important WW 1 collections, right?

Yes Marc...If WWI aviation is one's only interest in visiting any of those three museums, then I would say, if you started early in the day (The ScM opens at 10:00), you could visit the ScM and the IWM in one day, then spend another whole day at Hendon.
Thanks for the link to that thread and photos, Kees...As an employee there, I found them very interesting.
Regards,
Bucky

- I'd add the Suttleworth collection at Old Warden to the list as well , Duxford is worth a day too . by car , both are around an hours drive north of London.

Hendon has a fantastic collecton covering all era of aircraft, the WW1 part of the museum is only open between 10.00 and 12.00, so best to get there early.
