Which type of propeller?

Please help me identify this propeller on the nose of the FF 33 E no 1999. The plane was brought to Finland in May 1918 and the photo shows it in Tampere, when it was just assembled after the shipment .

Hi, Mikko!
I am in no position to identify the propeller from this picture.
Friedrichshafen floatplanes from the series 1981 : 1999 are quoted as FF33S (unarmed dual control trainers, ordered in late 1917). The engine is Bz III (about 160 PS at 1400 rpm). There are several possible propellers for this type (Astra; Behrend & Rüggebrecht; Garuda; Heine; Niendorf; Rahtjen; Reschke; Wolff).
I have Wolff and Niendorf propellers confirmed on FF33E and FF33L, respectively, but no data for FF33S.
Regards,
Yavor

Unfortunately I have no high resolution pic. The logo can really be Wotan, Niendorf or whatever...

Two pictures of this aeroplane can be seen in Suomen Ilmavoimat I : 1918 - 1927 [Finnish Air Force] by Kalevi Keskinen, Kyösti Partonen and Kari Stenman, Painoytymä Oy / Itä-Uudenmaan Paino, Loviisa, 2005, 192 s.
Resolution is not good enough, however.

Yavor

I can't identify the decal positively either.

The prop probably dates from 1917. By 1918 most props had fewer laminations of mahogany, due to the success of the blockade of Germany by the Royal Navy. And it has brass sheathing on the tips, because it is a seaplane. The shape of the sheathing is atypical.

I am currently updating my books on German WW1 props and I think I have examples of every makers' decal, although many are not pristine photographs. All are symmetrical except for that of NIG (Neue Industrie-Gesellschaft of Berlin, owned by Rieck und Hawerlander.) They came into existence in April 1916 and made a wide range of aviation parts.

Their decal is the only one that has some asymmetrical aspects that are vaguely similar to the one on this photograph.

Postscript If anyone has good photographs of any German prop decals, particularly from the more obscure makers, I would be most grateful for copies.

With kind regards,

Bob

Propeller...

I think Yavor got it right. It looks like the three-ringed Niendorf Propellerwerke Luckenwalde logo on the blades. It is also interesting to see the Rumpler 6.B1 fuselage sans spinner in the background (right).

Compare the logo on the top portion of the blade with these... I'm seeing the three interlocking rings:
