Previous Breguet's Crash Files

The Rules

1. All aircraft are of the 1914-18 period (Must have left the ground during this period).
2. The score board, link and rules must be copied to the beginning of each thread, so that we know where we are. The score board and the correct answer to the challenge must also be placed at end of each thread.
3. All "ACES" with a score of 5.0 or higher must obey the 3.0 hour handicap. All others with a score of ZERO to 4.99 may start immediately, if not sooner! Offenders will be dealt with severely!
4. To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in its identification.
5. And whom ever wins this challenge will have to provide a new one! If this can not be done for any reason, please PM Breguet and he will take over as host!
6. If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next challenge. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge.
7. The final arbitrator of all things to do with the "rules" is Breguet.

Hello,

Looks like Austro-Hungarian Brandenburg C.I(U) Series 69, 169, 269 or 369 recognisable by shape of fuselage, wing roots extended below the fuselage, arrangement of inter plane struts – two pairs with outer pair attached close to the lower wingtip, shape of tail plane supported by three pairs of struts.

Regards

Marek

Hello Joachim,

I can't find an exact match, but I am thinking that this unequal wing span and long slender fuselage with the tailplane location may belong to the Albatros O.A.W. (Later Phönix)
of the Austrian/Hungarian Air Service. The Austrians in the fotograf may or may not agree with me!
I also believe that I might see two separate cockpits,
rather than the popular comunal cockpit of so many Autrian flying machine designs.

HAPPY TRAILS, FOKKERJ

Hi Marek,

My reference for the Hansa-Brandenburg C.I only shows the forward strut on the stabiliser underside,
but it is in the right place!
That was throwing me off!
The long stabiliser could accomadate three struts as this fotograf shows.

Cheers, Jay

Hi Jay,

I think that the third pair of struts under stabiliser was unique characteristic of Brandenburg C.Is sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth series built by Ungarische Flugzeugwerke A.G.

Cheers

Hi Marek,

I didn't catch it, because I discounted it due to my only handy reference that shows only the one strut support
on the forward location, but it definetly has room for the other two. I just didn't catch it (my mistake).
My reference is a two view color rendition (Cartoon! ).

It doesn't matter, because you are quicker on the clock!

I just need to update my library.
And get a better time piece!

Cheers, Jay

P.S. Congratulations Marek!
