Attaching rigging wires

Hi everyone. I am building an 1/48 Alb DV #8019 for a friend. I am not replicating turnbuckles and am just atttaching rigging wires through pre-drilled holes.

Problem is, I am threading wires thru holes using very thin CA glue and it is puddling.

I tried using a needle, toothpick and with the super thin glue, no glue is getting into the holes.......

any tricks???

thanks

Hey Mike,
What works best for me with pull-through rigging is to use a thick CA and place a tiny drop on the inboard side of the monofilament while it is still slack. When you pull it tight, the drop of glue will be pulled into the hole and none of it will be on the surface. To make sure the drop is small enough, I sharpen a tooth pick to a very fine point, coat the tip with CA, sand it and repeat 2 or 3 times. The tip is then very sharp and hard. Something to remember if you ever find yourself in prison.

Thanks Bud! That works like a charm!

I did not have this much trouble building the Hanriot, but I did make turnbuckles to thread the wire through.....Thought this would be easier....

This kit had photoetch cabane struts......but otherwise not too much trouble.

Now I have lots of cleaning up to do on this kit!!

Take your needle and grind off some of the top portion after the eye that the thread goes through, so that you have what resembles a miniature fork, dull the pointy end, chuck it in a pin vise and then when you dip it into your super thin glue all the glue will wick up between the arms - you won't be left trying to maneuver a drop of glue around.... touch the tip of your new glue stick to the hole/rigging wire and all the glue will wick out only in the seams, it will refuse to run out onto a flat surface....

if you shop hard enough you can find cheap needles with very long eyes, when you grind the end off, the smaller the aperture - the better

to clean, just burn off the dry glue with a hand held lighter [CA is VERY flammable - BE CAREFUL] and wipe the carbon off on a rag.
