Real wood

I love all the photos of all the great model in this forum. I noticed that there several threads on how to simulate wood. Has anyone ever used real wood? I use cherry veneer for all my wood in cockpits to props and struts. The only time I paint wood is if it is a wooden fuselage. What I do is shave the wood to the thickness I need then shape it to match the plastic piece. To Finnish the wood I use super glue. Put on a generous coat let is dry to the touch then sand it with 400 grit paper the rub a little oil from your forehead (I use my nose) to give the wood some shine. I love the results. I will try to post some photos.

here are a couple examples of my props. The DE Havilland four blade prop for a 18th scale DH-2 I'm scratch building. It is made of cherry.

The other two are props that I have made in 1/46th scale. The German prop is cherry and basswood. The other prop is for a Morane Saulnier type N I have not put the deflectors on. the prop is cherry.

The other thing I want to show is a set of floats for a Sopwith baby in 1/48 scale.
