Photos from the archives!!
At the beginning of the year, I did a massive clear-out of the garage just before it got demolished, and in doing so unearthed a smattering of photos of WW1 replicas.
So, here they are!
Thorpe Park Fokker Dr.1 - and some small child, whose identity I do not know...

Not sure what the RFC-marked aircraft is behind, though.
I'm fairly certain this is the La Ferte Alais-based Fokker Dr.1
A line-up of Replica Plans SE.5as belonging to the Great War Display Team
Another picture of the same crowd, with an additional Avro 504 at the rear

A few more....
The Real Aeroplane Company's Fokker Dr.1, seen at Duxford in 2000, along with a Nieuport 17 and Avro 504 (probably the same one in the previous photos).

The Fokker was, of course, one of those used in the filming of Flyboys, as I believe the Nieuport was, too. The four Pearl Harbor Spitfires were also at this event.
Apologies for the crap photos (these were taken with a bog-standard point and shoot camera!) - Neil Geddes' SE.5a replica over East Fortune.
Finally, a large-scale model SE.5a (alongside what appears to be a pair of Fokkers)

Hello Daren Cogdon,
Great fotos! Thanks for sharing.
In the first foto, the unidentified machine with British markings behind the Red Fokker reminded me of an Avro 504.
As I perused the following images, that first reaction seemed justified.
Cheers, Jay aka FOKKERJ
P.S. I don't recognise the "Small Child" either!

Hi Jay ,..(First photo )...The red DrI was part of a display set piece of " film prop type fakes " with trophy bits of British A/C at the back of the hanger ....There were a couple of working replicas still based there ,The DrI (Scarab165) & DVII (Ranger) which were allowed to taxi about for public demonstrations , but John Hall , who ran Thorp Park , could not in the end , get permision to fly from there as had originaly been hoped for ,..too close to Heathrow probably .

Hi John
I did wonder for ages whether or not that Fokker was capable of flight!
I seem to recall one of the UK aviation monthlies did an article some years back on the Thorpe Park replicas, too.

Thorpe Park . (Liesure Sport )
Hello Darren ....Way back when ....
After they had ordered the S5 seaplane replica , and a few other non flying seaplane racers , ... Through a friend , who was designer of said S5 seaplane ,... I sold them my 165hp Warner ,DrI project ( which by now , I had decided , was insufficiently accurate for my purpose )...However I agread to make the MG's for it ..
Subsequently , having realised that a WWI theme was a great idea , they (J.Hall of Liesure Sport) , decided to get into more of them .
They approached me and I went into business , and made all the MG's for all their flying WWI replicas , 08/15's , Vickers , Lewis ,Scarf rings and various "ground " 08 & Lewis ...
The aircraft were kept at nearby White Waltham for a while , then , some while later , sold off .
I believe that some of the flying ones ended up in the FAA museum ,Yeovillton ....others either being subsequently crashed or disposed of elsewhere.
There were quite a few non flying exhibits there , mostly made by film prop people , and had lorry motors etc. in combination with F/ Glass replica LR's etc. , fitted for the public airfield ( non-flying ) show .
Regards John M

Hi John
With regard to the FAA museum aircraft, "something" tells me one was the Albatross D.Va. I don't know about the rest.
I've not been to the FAA museum for years, but they had a helluva nice selection of WW1 types there at the time. I seem to recall a black Fokker strung from the ceiling, with an electric motor "running" the Oberursel engine.
