Question Men & Machines of the Australian Flying Corps 1914-1919

G'day all!
I have just ordered a 2nd Hand copy of this book in hard cover at a very reasonable price from Amazon USA (cant remember the author)
& wondered if anyone on the Forum has read it & what are your thoughts?

G'day Barry,

It's a very good book, it has quite a few AFC photos and it was written by Charles Schaedel if I remember correctly.

Regards,

David.

Barry,

The author was Charles Schaedel, and there is such scant information dedicated to the AFC that anything you can get your hands on is worth it, if at a reasonable price. A good source of information if I remember correctly.

Agreed. Lots of pictures, as well as some color profiles by Mr. Schaedel himself.

For other reading on the Australian Flying Corps, see:
Official History of Australia in the War of 1914-18, Vol. 8 by Cutlack (AFC History)
Australian Airmen by Richards (history of No. 4 Squadron AFC)
The Battle Below by Wrigley (history of No. 3 Squadron AFC)

For more personal accounts:
High Adventure by Cobby (served with No. 4 Squadron AFC)
Australian Hawk Over the Western Front by Hellwig (bio of RS Dallas who flew with the RNAS and RAF)
Aces and Kings by Sutherland (author served in 67 (Australian) Squadron RFC in Palestine)

Thumbs up Thanks!

Thanks Chaps for the info.
It only cost under $30 Aus including postage which I thought was well worth the risk.

As Steve knows I have just purchased "Australian Hawk----" & am in about 4 chapters. Absolutley a Great Read.
