Hello, from a new English member
Hello all,
just a courtesy call to introduce myself.
I am new to aircraft forums, but far from new to modelmaking having been a professional for a good many years and now semi-retired.
I have been cajoled by a manufacturer to have a crack at some patterns for new kits in "your" bigger scales, so I thought "why not".
I have made masters for companies, including my own, in kit manufacturing for decades. This is a chance to try something new.
Please don't ask who or what, that must be up to the client, when he's ready, but I think you may be pleased.
Regards,
Patternmaker

I have known, but two and both were mistresses of the craft.
Vivien Thompson, on model architecture and Cherry Hinds, model engineer of live steam. Both multi award winners.
Nice to know we have some competiton

Many thank, Albatross, for the friendly welcome.
Whilst I realise that they aren't WW1, my own passion in aircraft is for the sports and racing planes of the 20s and 30s.
Does anyone share this passion on the forum or is it JUST WW1 subjects?
Regards,
Patternmaker

Welcome to the Aerodrome, its good to have some one here from the same county. Sounds like you may be working on some interesting things for us in the future if it all works out, anything new in WW1 modelling is always most welcome.

Now there's a name from the past. Articles in the 60's and 70's in Railway Modeller, amongst others, IIRC.
Maggie Gravett is a fine, current, architectural modeller, mostly of the vernacular variety, along with her husband Gordon. Their latest completed work can be seen here.
Anyway, welcome to this rather fine forum PatternMaker.

Welcome aboard, Patternmaker. As Terri and Scott (Albatros) have indicated, you'll find your time spent here enjoyable, rewarding and enlightening. You'll meet folks here that you would be happy to call friends, people who will do anything they can to help you with a project or problem. We look forward to seeing your work and are very happy that you've been cajoled.
Cheers,
Bud
